The first question an accredited laboratory asks about any new extraction method is a fair one: has it been validated?

For forensicGEM Universal, the answer is published. A developmental validation carried out in line with SWGDAM recommendations, with Cedar Crest College, Duquesne University and the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Sagar, India, appeared in Forensic Genomics in 2022. It covers sensitivity down to 0.01 µl of blood and saliva, tolerance of known PCR inhibitors without wash steps, repeatability and reproducibility, contamination controls, and ten case-type samples.

It also reports where another method recovered more DNA, which is exactly what a validation should do. Swipe through.
